The Rev. Sandra Comerie-Smith, MD, is a retired double board-certified physician and health care executive with a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University. After thirty years of medical practice, she transitioned to providing spiritual care for fifteen years. She obtained her Masters of Divinity from Drew Theological Seminary and became an ordained minister in the AME Zion Church. After eight years as a parish pastor, she returned to the healthcare setting, becoming a board-certified chaplain and a certified Educator of Clinical Pastoral Education. She is also a certified leadership coach, teacher, and speaker with the John Maxwell team. God has placed in her a deep love and care for ministry leaders. She has accompanied them in their journey through mentoring, coaching, teaching, and facilitating awareness, leading to growth and healing. She takes seriously her own growth as a spiritual care provider in various ministry settings. She was married to her late husband, Maurice, for forty-five years and she has three adult children and two grandchildren.
